Y es que mi ciudad, Beirut, es desconocida para la mayoría de occidentales. Y yo que lo comprendo, porque desde luego después de 15 años de guerra y conflictos recientes las imágenes que se han mostrado son duras y difíciles de olvidar.
Pero hoy en día es una ciudad moderna, se dice que la es más cosmopolita dentro del mundo árabe (bueno vale...en según que zonas hay un pelín de caos) pero se vive bien.
Hay una cantidad de lugares increíbles que visitar que juntamente con nuestra gastronomía y el hecho de que no haya delincuencia civil hace que atraiga a muchos turistas, la mayoría de ellos árabes, pero dentro del ministerio de turismo se está haciendo un esfuerzo para atraer turismo de occidente, el trabajo no es fácil, porque nuestros vecinos gigantes están en conflicto. Pero gracias a nuestro carácter afable y nuestra comida (la mejor del mundo..jeje) es un proyecto factible.
Por esta razón, me encanta ver o leer que medios tan reconocidos como el New York Times le dedican a mi ciudad un rinconcito.

My city, Beirut, is unknown to most Westerners. And I understand it, because of course after 15 years of war and the recent conflicts the images shown are hard and difficult to forget.
But today is a modern city, it is said that is the most cosmopolitan in the Arab world (well ok ... in some area is a bit chaotic) but life is good!!
There are a number of amazing places to visit and with our amazing cuisine and the fact that no civil crime makes that attracts many tourists, most of them Arabs, but within the Ministry of Tourism is making an effort to attract West tourism, the work is not easy, because our giant neighbors are in conflict.
So thanks to our friendly nature and our food (the best in the world .. hehe) is a feasible project and expected.
For this reason, I love to watch or read in a recognized newspaper as the New York Times devote a corner of my city.
